Cryo Ring Seals
Cryo-Ring™ – Advanced Cryogenic O-Rings for Ultra-Low Temperatures
Cryo-Ring™ seals are precision-engineered to perform reliably in extreme low-temperature conditions. Designed for cryogenic applications, these sealing rings maintain their elasticity, strength, and dimensional stability even as standard elastomers become rigid or fail under extreme cold. They deliver reliable sealing performance under rapid temperature changes and high-pressure variations.
KAF Seal Inc. provides cryogenic O-rings tailored for demanding environments, including LNG systems, liquid nitrogen storage, helium and hydrogen applications, and vacuum chambers. These seals ensure leak-free operation for aerospace systems, laboratory equipment, and industrial cryogenic processes, where maintaining integrity under severe cold is critical.
As an official distributor of Vulcan Engineering Ltd. (UK & USA), we deliver low temperature O-rings that meet global safety and performance standards. Our Cryo-Ring™ solutions combine advanced materials with engineering expertise, delivering a trusted seal for applications requiring precision, durability, and uncompromising performance in ultra-low-temperature environments.
Why Choose Cryo-Ring™ FEP / PFA Encapsulated Products?
Cryo-Ring™ is the perfect low-cost 'O'-ring sealing solution for cryogenic applications, where low temperature demands are required. Liquid Oxygen or Hydrogen are ideal applications for a Cryo-Ring™ or Cryogenic seals due to it’s lower temperature operating limit of -250°C (-418°F) compared to an encapsulated Silicone core limited to -60°C (-75°F).
With a 302 Stainless Steel spiral wound spring, encapsulated with either an FEP or PFA, a Cryo-Ring™ or Cryogenic seal is used within a wide variety of industries such as transportation, food, pharmaceutical and chemical.
• Widest temperature encapsulated sealing 'O'-ring
• No cold flow problems due to the Stainless Steel elastomer core, unlike solid PTFE ring
• Virtually any cross-section and diameter size or shape of seals can be produced to meet your
application
• Full traceability through production and multi-level automated inspection to ensure high
product quality and reliability
• Guaranteed stock of materials for all BS ISO 3601-1/AS 568 sizes, with short lead times
Cryo-Ring Seals
Material Options
• Encapsulation: FEP / PFA
• Inner core: 302 Stainless Steel spring
Temperature Range
• FEP = -250°C to +205°C (-418°F to +400°F)
• PFA = -250°C to +260°C (-418°F to +500°F)
Venting
For applications where pressure demands exceed 100 bar, ventilation holes are to be placed within the encapsulation to prevent encapsulation rupture.

What Are Cryo-Ring™ Cryogenic Seals?
Cryo-Ring™ seals are high-performance cryogenic O-rings crafted from ultra-low-temperature elastomers, sometimes combined with hybrid materials, to deliver reliable sealing in extreme cold. These specialized seals are engineered to handle conditions that challenge conventional materials, including:
